Ed, It's not recommended by Avast! to run another AV software program concurrently.

I've been happy with Avast!, but I'm not implying that it is better than Norton, which I've never used. I do like it better than AVG, however. OTH AVG served me well. I like the way Avast! updates definitions frequently, without any action required on my part.
