OH, you ARE empathetic toward the troops and their families? Why didn't you say so. You wrote: "Is it your position that we should spend more on the troops? Their needs are paid for. The extra pay is gratuitous." It must have been my mistake. When I read that I had a picture of someone getting paid as an enlisted man, trying to support a family, unable to stay at his civilian job (reserve) or work a second job (active), having left a wife at home that had to quit her job or hire day care, getting shot at, living in third world living conditions, wondering why in the hell he was there and whether he'd come home, wondering if people back home understood how scary and rough it was, and then getting a pay cut BECAUSE PEOPLE LIKE YOU FELT THE EXTRA PAY WAS "GRATUITOUS." Get a clue before you say such things and then take a hard look before you write posts that require that your earlier words get reposted.
