At 57 I'm poking my max into the Roth every year and have been since the Roth law passed.

It's the ideal place for trading account money even if you don't plan to have to live off it. No reporting of gains(or losses). Short term? No Worry!

Just last week did my daughter set up a Roth. Age 24. Her grandmother ( on her mom's side, divorced ) is in a nursing home. Can't afford a 'perm'. Daughter doesn't want that to happen 'when she gets old'. Lady down the hall can. Has money in an IRA.

I talked to her about Roth back when the law was first written and was told to 'never bring up the subject again'. I never did, but was heartened by her decision. Thank god for X-Mothers in law.
