Stop the psychobabble about what I "really mean" or "really am saying" and just read my words. I took issue with your statement that the pay cut took "gratuitous" pay from the troops. Then I took issue with your saying that they had nothing to complain about because they "volunteered."

Neither of those issues have anything to do with the right or wrong of invading and occupying Iraq. As I stated in my first post to you, I didn't think you had carefully thought out the question and I gave you some criteria upon which to objectively evaluate the issue in terms of fairness, alternative uses of budget money, and the importance of morale. It's your "so what" treatment of the soldiers point of view that keeps it going. Don't try to attack the my motives. If you can't support your position on the merits then admit it's untenable and amend it.

The "straw man" that you are trying to set up with all of the "it isn't a monthly pay cut that you in your heart of hearts are so concerned about. It is stopping the effort completely and as soon as possible" noise, is not sensible. If I really wanted the war to end more quickly and was willing to use the misery of our troops to do it, why wouldn't I want their pay cut, their morale hurt and their families to struggle? Unlike some on both side of the issue who give lip service, I truly opposed the war but support our troops.
