Hi Glenn,
Re: You might want to keep an open mind about Arnold. Beholden to no one, he would certainly be a breath of fresh air in California.
Warren Buffett's association with A.S. certain puts things in a different light.
I remain committed to the notion, however, that the recall itself is an attempt by anti-democratic forces of the Right to subvert our way of life.
One cannot help but gasp at the fact Clinton was nearly removed from office for a minor and discrete personal peccadillo, while GWB has been given a free ride in spite of the massive evidence that he is destroying our economy and has led us into a criminal war of aggression and an endless quagmire in the Middle East.
Then we have the anti-democratic way that the Florida election was run in 2000, including the vote scrubbing of thousands of Gore voters on the basis of a fraudulent scheme in the Secretary of State's office.
Then we have the anti-democratic and perverse effort by Rove, Delay and the Texas legislature to gerrymander the established Congressional districts of Texas for purely political advantage, not to redress any serious infraction of the rules by the court which determined the present distict boundaries.
And now there's a rumor about a new Right Wing Extremist recall effort being mounted in the state of Wisconsin.
In toto, I'd like to keep an open mind, Glenn, but it appears to me that the Republican party is guilty of an attempt at the subversion and destruction of our way of life with their endless attacks on democratic processes.
If I were still a Californian, I'd damn sure vote "NO" to the recall. This is no way to run a government, or a country. |
