To all on thread, Within each dark cloud,can be found a silver lining. At this point in time I have no idea was has caused the East coasts energy blackout. TV talking heads have said it may have been a lightening strike in Canada. I'm not a power expert but when I first visited KVHI's Tinsley Park FOG I was given a wonderful tour from a now retired Vice President named Sid Bennett. I queried him on the then hopeful Current Sensor.This was developed by KVHI and paid for by ABB. Sids comments on the current sensor indicated a big market was out there when deregulation occurred and power could flow freely from producer to user.It was his opinion that Europe was deregulating faster than the U.S.. He also made the point that KVHI's current sensor was also a very valuable preservation system. During lightning strikes the spike in current could be sensed bt KVHI's current sensor and shut down the lines to more or less act as a lightning rod to the ground.This would save the system from lightning damage. Tonight President Bush has made the comment that our power lines need to be upgraded. ABB has sat on this design and hinestly I don't know why. Rumor has it that if ABB can isolate it asbestos liability Chicago Bridger and Iron will buy their U.S division. The cost of this outage will be huge and I think there is a huge benefit that can be gleaned by allowing KVHI proprietary technology upgrade our power grid to be the safest most reliable grid on the earth Baseball Hot Dogs Apple Pie and KVHI Current Sensors - call your senator. This may be whats moves the way overdue introduction of KVHI current sensor - a multibillion dollar market annually. This will take time and it could well be huge. Bob
