Osama wanted us to become embroiled in a Soviet-redux land war in Afghanistan. The propaganda value of a war on "Arab soil" gets traction, but most Arabs are smarter than to be fooled by that. Afghans and other Arabs hated the Taliban, but many of them hate each other, too -- even more. Look at the in-fighting going on.

Osama failed to incite the jihad he envisioned. Miserably. But he still lives, and remains a threat so long as he does -- although I think his totally mad counterpart, al-Zwahari, or however it's spelled, his side-kick, is the more dangerous.

Now they both live in caves somewhere in the wild frontiers of Afghanistan/Pakistan until they are either found or die of natural causes.

We ought to go get them before they stage another attack using deluded youths.
