right that is the typical situation around here. Admittedly I come from software and my business is in one hell of a funk real and imagined, Larry Ellison is adding to the malaise too. However, there are no jobs. I know some of the best DBAs in the business, guys that are 40 years old with 10 years experience capable of managing young teams or setting up your archival strategy FROM SCRATCH, the kind of people who could write their own ticket throughout the entire 90s... and most are out of work and one guy got so desperate after looking for 2+ years he took a job at Gap Inc. for 50K. The unemployment numbers don't tell the whole story and besides if everybody has to take a 70% pay cut like that guy at Gap, what do we have? I think we are in trouble economically here.
