Osama did not fail (yet) to incite the jihad- you think WAY too short term. We can't tell, at this time, whether he incited it or not, it is just too soon to tell. Osama had long term plans...

Just so this thread isn't responsible for propagating another incorrect meme, let's remember that before 9-11, Bin Luddite called for a jihad, but was largely ignored. He just didn't have the religious standing. Normally, only the Caliph could do this. With the fall of the last caliphate, that responsibility fell to the most senior Muslim clerics.

After 9-11, the "invasion" of Afghanistan and the fall of the Taliban, still no jihad. But the invasion of Iraq was different. What Bin Luddite couldn't get, the neo-cons gave him. As Scott reported

The only people that could call a jihad, did. Under reported at the time, only now are we hearing of these "foreigners" involved in the attacks on Americans. The jihad has been “on” since March. Bin Luddite has what he wanted.
