I have, at length and in clear terms, and i continue to do so .... we have family there, and twenty years ago the provincial Diktat in re schools was effecting them greatly, so that's an old fight ..... my stance there was the same, that it is not the business of government to control language of the individual .... if i want to put on my shop a sign in greek, or in maori, or with no words at all, that's my business, period

I've also preached to mexicanos for many years, that fluency in two languages minimum is of prime importance to education of their children, and that english is the logical second choice given the geography .... there are xenophobic racist dickheads there too, just as there are in the US, who oppose the growing use of english and are therefore, for the same reasons, unfit for public office
