Ray,

No doubt the level of apathy is a big part of the problem. I agree with MSIs conclusion that secrecy is a problem, but I have reservations that reversing the secrecy alone amounts to a cure, except for the potential to act as a catalyst for evolution or revolution. There is plenty of information in the public domain, on a wide variety of issues and incidents, which is not secret. In many cases that information has been widely publicized. The usual response is to bark at the bad guys from behind the fence, then curl up in front of the fireplace for a nap.

How many times have you heard, "Yeah, but there isn't anything we can do about it."?

"Our lives, our fortunes, our sacred honor" is a high price to pay, even when life, fortune and honor have already been confiscated by the ruling elite. I think it would be wishful thinking of the worst sort to expect the average guy marching in a peace parade to ante up when the only reason he's there in most cases is to find female companionship. Aesop had a pretty good handle on human nature.
