Srexley, re: >>"mathematical examples that show our taxes are really going up even though the tax rates have gone down."<<
One last try on my part and then you can post whatever logic you want.
Please answer these simple questions:
1. Is federal spending going UP?
2. Are the primary sources of funding for federal spending,
a. funds raised through taxes, and
b. funds raised through the float of bonds (borrowing)?
3. Is the interest and principal repayment on the bonds (borrowing) necessarily REPAID THROUGH FUNDS GENERATED FROM FEDERAL TAXES?
4. If you answered "yes" to all three previous questions then is the total cost of this year's federal government (which has skyrocketed,) going to be repaid with HIGHER tax collections?
5. Has the new tax "cut" shifted more of the proportionate burden for paying for the federal government from the wealthy to the middle income taxpayers?
6. With higher total tax revenues NECESSARY to repay the higher expenditures and the increased borrowing, and with more of the burden having shifted to the middle income taxpayers, HOW DO YOU FIGURE THAT MIDDLE INCOME WAGE EARNERS WILL PAY LESS IN TAXES AS THESE GOVERNMENT SPENDING BILLS COME DUE?????
I would really like to hear that there is a free lunch out there somewhere but I KNOW that this government spending will ultimately be paid by the American public and when it is, the wealthy will pay less of it. You can argue all you want sbout whether that's "fair" but it is, nonetheless true.
If you think this is a "democratic" position as you seem to like to throw in as if that discredits it, you're wrong. It's a thinking issue. Those that can think things through, Democrat, Republican or otherwise KNOW how it works. They might disagree on whether it's good policy but they're not too stupid to acknowledge that in the end this tax "cut" in a time of rising expenditures is smoke and mirrors. It will result in a tax increase and, unless the rules are changed again, the middle income American taxpayer will end up assuming part of the burden that would have been paid by the very wealthy without this legislation. PS. If you want to argue about whether the very wealthy are fairly taxed, let me know.
PSS. Where does the "her" come from? |
