'Israeli intelligence now reports connections between the Ba'ath party and Al Qaeda'

Lol ..... that was when the war marketing campaign was in full swing, quite a time, there will be lots of over-the-top stuff back there .... i was just starting to read up on Shaba Farms, only have a few minutes, but i found one piece that somewhat contradicts your article above, says the UN did not make a judgment on whether it was syrian or lebanese, rather they let the israeli withdrawal line stand so as not to aggravate tension at the time .... can't find it again now though .... here is another with some points from when it was under french mandate - lebanonwire.com

There are UN peacekeepers on the Golan heights, canadians among them ... why are they not in the Shaba Farms area? ..... and this business of israeli fighters flying over Beirut, one or two of them must be shot down, pour encourager les autres .... if you're setting out to keep the peace, you've got to encourage the sides to respect the line, and a line has no width

I recalled a few things my friend said about Hezbollah, not complimentary at all, but no time to type them in just now ... later, cheers
