a trip to Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio

Your comment about Cedar Point got me to thinking about a now long past park in Cleveland, OH. Right of the shore of Lake Erie, it was clearly from an earlier era - the '20s. The attraction I remember was called "Flying Turns". From Google, I found
