Ish, BP is not exactly a British company, though it's headquartered there. It is also an American company, having bought Sohio and owning lots of Alaskan oil and other oil interests in the USA. Shell is not simply a Dutch company. It's international, with major USA assets. Shell is British too. Britain and the USA were in it together in Iraq. Of course John Browne [BP boss] wanted a piece of the action.
