There were thoughtful well rounded folks in the 60s and 70s who would take the system and one another to task in search of a better life for all. It was an exciting time of challenge and risk taking. When agendized platforms and obsolete mechanisms became entrenched, those people walked away. I suspect they have turned to the libertarian party, republican, independant, or just shaking their heads in disgust.

The Democratic party represented one of the most powerful civilized tools for social movement that has ever existed on the planet. For the past few years it just looks like that little tornato in the bathroom bowl. Sort of interesting to watch, even thought you know that eventually everything will be sucked down the little hole.

Don't expect too much from the remnants. They are leaderless junkies of left wing cliche.
