Here are more details on the SARS patient transferred to Surrey Memorial. This suggests that the virus causing the current outbreak may be related to a Hong Kong version of SARS CoV.

There were at least 3 SARS (1 probable, 2 suspect) who were admitted to Surrey Memorial Hospital

"We have been fortunate to have had only one probable case of SARS in Fraser Health," said Dr. Roland Guasparini, Chief Medical Health Officer. "She had returned home from Asia in late March, and has remained in isolation in hospital since that time. Now that she has been released from hospital, she will remain on home isolation for 10 days, with regular follow-up by Public Health."

"We're pleased that this patient is now well enough to go home from Surrey Memorial, although we remain concerned that one of our staff members is still in hospital in Vancouver," added Dr. Joan Tomblin, Medical Microbiologist at Royal Columbian.

"There are four suspect cases in hospital - two in Surrey Memorial, one in Royal Columbian and one at MSA. Forty-one health care workers are excluded from work at Fraser Health hospitals because of contact with suspect SARS patients."
