Maybe my position is closer to yours than to Ray's (a thought that I'm sure chills both of us :)

Some wars are necessary, and just. Those who thought that Hitler could have been stopped in any other way are not just wrong, but dangerously wrong. Gandhi said that Hitler could be stopped with non-violence, but as great of a man as he was, he was wrong, IMHO.

We disagree as to where to apply that force. I agree with Afghanistan, because that was the direct harbor of the enemy, if not the enemy itself. Although Saddam is an enemy of all good, I believe in a larger sense it hurts us by disabling our ability to fight the terrorists, by both isolating us from the world diplomatically and tying ourselves up in a situation that is costing big time but not getting us any closer to the terrorists.
