This is exactly the problem.

"If they still lived there, $1200
a month in RE tax would force them
to sell their home."

The fact that they are NOT living
there means they are renting and
probably making a bundle due to the
tax subsidy while families who need
to buy can't buy because the prices
are too high.

Grace, your parents are exactly the
kind of people who need to be weaned
from unbalanced taxation to protect
those who don't have that special
circumstance working for them.

Just because they were smart to keep
their property to rent, and have been
the beneficiaries for years, does not
mean that it is right for this to
continue indefinitely.
