>> agree with you on valuation of athm. I disagree on their technology - they use cable which improves bandwidth by 2 orders of magnitude <<
look, cable modems is not the ATHM's technology at all, it's like claming 28.8 modems is the technology of AOL or NETC - no way, it (technology) belongs to USRX, ZOOM, BOCI, MOT and the likes, and you know PCs isnt the technology of MSFT, theirs is a software - thats another (successful for MSFT) story, cable modems manufacturing is completely separate business and whats more important at this point its absolutely unlike business model... you surely could say they USE a great technology that improves blah-blah, but to the same extent you could say AOL USES color-TV technology to place their commercials which definately improves blah-blah and streamlines blah-blah when compared to PCs monitors, couldnt you? but think how it can be translated into the co. business progress - remains to be seen... dont mix what shouldnt be mixed up - high-tech co., profiting from technology developing, manufacturers like box-makers selling hardware based on that technology, and internet providers whichever technology they use selling access on a light margin basis but not technology itself depending more on marketing strategy rather than R&D...
