If I were to list what I considered family values, it would include such things as
loyalty, sharing, kindness, industriousness, responsibility, devotion,
helpfulness, etc. That's what I think of when I think of family values.


How do you distinguish those, if you do, from general societal/interpersonal values? Aren't those values you would like to see even in an unmarried orphan who had no family at all? Aren't they values you would promote when teaching orphan childen?

If there are no values that a person owes to his or her family that differ from those he or she owes to the world in general, then the term family in family values is meaningless.
