It looks to me that it could be a bigger source for the commuting public. From where to where? Manhattan to Staten Island and then what? Queens, Bronx, LI...how do you service these boroughs by ferry? NYC is surrounded by water. Check out a map of NYC: aaccessmaps.com You could have ferries to LI, to Queens, to Brooklyn, to Weschester, to CT/New Haven. There could be more service to NJ. The problem is that many of these areas already get tons of rail so you would have to build the ferry service slowly but it could be done. And it would provide a great alternative. In the Puget Sound, many people prefer cars to trains or buses but prefer ferries to cars. And its expensive commuting. ted
