From where to where? Manhattan to Staten Island and then what? Queens, Bronx, LI...how do you service these boroughs by ferry?

NYC is surrounded by water. Check out a map of NYC:


I lived there for a number of years...they are not practical...there are hordes of people that descend on Manhattan daily and even that is a fraction of the commuting that takes place within the 5 boroughs and outlying areas. Ferries are too slow and you have to have a second method of commuting from where they drop you off.
