KT,

I read your banning post (congrats). :-)

I think you left one thing out. It’s probably a point of view that's still unpopular these days, but I think it is valid anyway. It seems to me that when some person, group, or country hates you enough to behave in extremely violent ways, it is worth spending some time to examine their complaints to see if there is any legitimacy to their anger if not their methods of responding. I’ve spent some time doing that, but from what I can gather the birdbrains running our foreign policy these days haven’t spent more than five minutes doing so.

Let’s suppose I have a little garden to care for and occasionally I have to weed and fertilize my plants etc… To accomplish these tasks I have to physically move around one or both of my neighbor’s gardens. Now let’s say one of them has a crazy son. He doesn’t like the idea of me walking around and moving equipment onto his garden. He also doesn't like the fact that I am so friendly with the other neighbor and help him with his gardening at the same time because he doesn't get along with the guy. So one day he gets so pissed off he and his friends burn down my garage in response to my gardening. Clearly he is a crazy man, but I would argue that maybe he has a right to be a little pissed off. He just dealt with it the wrong way because he’s crazy. I can’t see how taking a bulldozer to his garden in response to the fire is the correct answer to this particular problem. I think it is practically begging him and his friends to come burn down my house.
