Hi Ray. Thanks for those Enron articles. Funny, I've become so used to shoddy reporting from the WSJ and NYT, that those articles are very refreshing. On a side note, this weekend I saw the movie "Owning Mahoney" - a fascinating movie starring Phillip Seymour Hoffman (who plays the lead role brilliantly) based on a true story about a Toronto-based CIBC banker who develops a gambling addiction in the 1980s, and defrauds the bank of some $10-$12 million to support his junkets to Atlantic City. What's really great about Seymour's role is that Dan Mahoney is actually portrayed as a pretty decent guy, who at some point just becomes obsessed with the addictive rush that gambling brings him ... you get the sense it's not even about winning really. It's about the "rush". At the end of the movie, the credits reveal that the real-life Dan Mahoney was sentenced to 6 months in jail (who says "white-collar" crime doesn't pay!), and hasn't gambled since his release ... and of course, he marries the woman (played by Minnie Driver) who stands by him through thick-and-thin.
