At my children's school if you don't invite everyone, you can't pass your invitations out during class- you need to do it at recess or before or after school. I think that is good also. Because I think we all remember how nasty some children could be about the exclusivity of their birthday parties. I'm glad the teachers keep a lid on that sort of thing. I've met many adults who still remember being pointedly excluded from something by other students- those kinds of hurtful slights should not have the assistance of educated adults, Educated adults should actually be working on ways to foster inclusion :-) And by that I code only for the notion that including as many people as possible is a Good Thing- for the other people, and for society, because society is social, and the more people who get along, and get along nicely, the better. Just my opinion, of course.
