I don't think we can or should protect kids from ideas

I do.

I think we should protect children (my children aren't baby goats, but humans <g>) from, for example, the idea that if they're bigger and stronger than other children on the playground it's okay for them to beat up the other children and steal their lunchmoney. I think we should protect children from the idea that the Holocaust never happened. I think we should protect children from the idea that if they see a toy in a store and want it, it's okay to take it and walk out with it without paying. These are POVs that other people may have, but I want to protect chidren from them until the children are old enough to understand the morality of theft, which doesn't come about until they have developed a sense of other and a sense of empathy.

Brain research is showing more and more that children aren't just little adults, but that their brains develop over many years, not being fully developed physically until about age 20, and there are certain concepts they're simply unable to deal with until thir brains are developed enough to have the physical capability of dealing with those issues. Until then, we hve to protect children from those ideas.
