The Washington Post and Journal both ponder today the possibility that the bombing and other attacks on civilian targets in Iraq could backfire and actually increase support for the U.S. and its fight against the guerillas. It's true, I don't do much international travelling, but I do have a family connection to a respected (nonreligious) international medical assistance organization, and I'm told the picture the media is painting of Iraqi disgruntlement with the U.S. is not as black and white as many people here believe it is. There are a lot of nasty power plays happening in that country, I don't know where it will all end, but I'm hoping for the best. (Somebody shoot me!)
