I understand him feeling besieged. His way of life is being challenged. Which can temporarily short out one's analytical ability.

But I think you're mistaken that any more than a few nuts on the fringe have any problem with anyone having the Ten Commandments in his heart, this generation or any generation. We secular types just don't want 1)public policy based directly on religious laws or 2)people who don't have that particular list in their hearts treated as second class citizens. It's hard for me to understand how anyone couldn't understand that, even if it is distressing to him and even if he isn't willing to give up his all-Jesus-all-the-time way of life. There's no real basis for thinking that his heart is in jeopardy. If he could get a little perspective, then maybe the fringies wouldn't think they need to strip his grandchildren's hearts to get rid of the menace.
