SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- Integrated Device Technology Inc. Monday unveiled a Register Validation Board for testing the next generation DDR2 registered DIMMs for servers.

IDT said the board provides an analysis of the pre- and post-register address bus of DDR2 registered DIMMs. It also allows users to observe simultaneous switching behavior of the register. The company said the validation board also can test DIMM voltage, reference voltages, clock speeds and timing relationships between clocks and address and control signals. Kevin Walsh, director of IDT strategic marketing, said up to now there has been no common reference test for DIMM registers.

"Previous methods of register testing included actual DIMM testers, bench tests and testing houses. As a result it was difficult for customers to evaluate registers on a standard platform," Walsh said.

The IDT DDR2 Register Validation Board is available immediately and individually priced at $1,400. CST Inc., Dallas, a DIMM testing company, is managing the production and distribution of the board.
