Diamond is the hardest stuff one can think of (as per definition), so, well, no 3D, because the cooling substrate 2D plane is a fact.

I read somewhere about technologies needed for the next-generation steppers ... You're talking a few nm repositioning accuracy etc. And the mask should be practically (*) dead still (**) etc.
