Well, what I dont understand is why we dont INTERMIX Iraqi's into our units. To train and equip the Iraqi's to have their own units starting from scratch (apparently we wont use any former Iraqi soldiers--why I dont know as unless they were senior level commanders they likely had no more to do with Saddam then anyone else in the population) is going to take A LONG TIME. But, why not intermix say on a ratio of one to three Iraqi's right into our own army there? That would immediately give us a substantially higher force level, after some rudimentary training they could basically get ON THE JOB training from our troops, and we would be putting a JOINT face on things as well as getting interpreters etc etc. The Iraqi's would get a decent pay, good food, nice uniforms and hopefully some PRESTIGE which goes a long way in the Arab world. jdn

Ps: For those of you that think this outrageous, I would point out thats what the Romans did (promising them Roman citizenship after many years of service) and they CONQUERED THE KJOWN WORLD this way.
