They want to call it terrorism, or dead-enders, or even guerilla fighting, but it is more correctly termed asymetrical-warfare. The U.S. is not policing a bunch of criminals, but fighting a war in which the enemy knows well how to negate the advantages of the modern military technology and tactics. Rumsfeld is guilty of the small minded affliction that hits so many wanna-be generals. He has the solution to the last war. He wanted a repeat of the 1991 Bush war, only this time he was going to take the surrender of Saddam and parade him around as a suvenier. What he got was more than just another Vietnam, it was another asymetric war like Vietnam, but with participants who had refined their techniques in Afganistan, Kashmir, and the Phillipines. Rumsfeld is still in that time warp even after being handed his own "TeT offensive" wakeup call.
