i didn't mean to insult you with the Rush statement. perhaps you were not aware of the similarities in your views. i can assure you that Rush thinks it's a grand thing that only the middle class and poor pay FICA/payroll on 100% of their incomes, and loves to characterize these funds as "contributions" instead of taxes. furthermore, he loves that the idle rich do not have to pay one penny of these taxes on their unearned income, and the working rich only pay it on a small portion. so excuse me if i took these similarities to your own views as suggestive that you were familiar with his fine program.

You aren't the only person who has tried to argue that 15.3% SS is more than the 35% marginal tax that the higher end tax payer pays on income not subject to SS. The schools in this country are really terrible and people can't add.

you shouldn't try to mischaracterize my argument, and then use that as a basis for a backhanded insult. this is poor debating sportsmanship.

instead, you should practice adding the FICA/payroll to the middle class taxpayer's marginal tax rate. you will find this number can exceed 35% at the marginal level, and easily exceeds the rentier class tax rate of 15%.
