"this is the type of thing i wish to avoid"

as for wishing to avoid, i take it you mean toggling settings back and forth?

i wouldn't like it either if it was frequent.

as long as i see that the bulk of the sites i visit can handle the settings, then i'll take the few extra seconds for the added clickstream in order to maintain higher security.

remember the locked front door and burglar metaphor we were discussing yesterday?

think of it again...

if you kept the front door locked to prevent burglars from entering, but every now and then had to go open it to let a friend in, would it then make sense to leave the door unlocked so that you didn't have to go to the trouble of letting the friend in?

right now after a full day of use on very high settings, only one site required that i turn off cookie control and ad blocking and mobile code control. you may never encounter the same set of circumstances i did... your zap net experience could be entirely different depending on the places you go.

i've just installed zap4.0 on my second machine. two operating systems down and one to go. i'm in no real rush, though, with the last OS... it's win98se and i rarely boot into that OS. sometimes i wonder why i keep it around. it basically takes up room and i have to groom it all the time. i guess you might say it's like a tired old pet that i can't just turn my back on.
