True, groups like ANSWER get caught up in off-topic things like Mumia that distract them from their main purpose of bring social justice to our economic system. But, perhaps their main purpose is really like any other organization, to survive. Therefore, they latch on to issues that are popular and can help them gain members and donations. BTW, there are certainly innocent people on death row, whether Mumia is one of them, I haven't determined. But, the Philadelphia police in the 1970s were some of the brutalist and most corrupt in the country under Mayor Frank Rizzo. I'm sure more than one person is/was in jail on false murder charges due to their corruption.
