as Dr. Richebaecher keeps reminding us, the alleged 'growth' in the US GDP is laregely a statistical artifact, stemming from hedonic indexing. the distortions are VAST. nominal spending growth for IT is blown up by a factor of 15 ( ! ) for the 'real' GDP growth figures. so if a business spends $1,000 on a PC, it looks like $15,000 were spent in the GDP. it's all a lie and mirage. therefore, the data are not comparable to the European data. also, US GDP growth data are always annualized, which makes them look much bigger again than they really are.
in short, there is no recovery, only a lot of arm-waving.
