Shanghai. (Interfax-China) - China's total power output in China last month was calculated at 168.099 bln kWh, surging 17.05% year-on-year, according to statistics disclosed by the State Grid Distribution Information Center.
Of the total, 137.239 bln kWh of electricity was contributed by thermopower plants, representing 81.64% of the overall output. The power produced by hydropower stations, although affected by the drought spreading throughout southern China, accounted for 15.81% of the output, mainly as a result of the newly launched Three Gorges Project. Meanwhile, the third phase of the Qingshan Nuclear Power Station became operational in July but still did not significantly pull up the \proportion occupied by nuclear power, which stood at 2.55% by the end of July.
