A lot more blood will have to be spilled on all sides before this arrogant attitude shifts unfortunately.

Sadly, I have to agree. The mindset that supports continued (or stepped up) operations, is not even close to realizing that all efforts will just more deeply ensnares one into the Tar Baby. A "straw in the wind" that indicates the current mindset, is the reaction to the Baghdad UN bombing. There has been considerable hyperbole about this "is a crime against civilization", etc., but little understanding of even the obvious. In a recent CNN report, after a recapitulation of the event, a question was posed - why? No remotely convincing answer was given.

Wearing blinders, I suppose none could be seen. The fact that de Mello was working "hand-in-glove" with Bremer is never mentioned. Nor the recent approval of the puppet "Governing Council" by the UN. Also, there is the long period of UN sanctions that primarily affected the Iraqi populace, and most obvious of all, that the UN is a "foreign" intrusion into the ummah.

Yeah, the UN was attacked. Duh!
