Tom, The fiasco in Canada clearly shows that there is a problem and someone is VERY unprepared for even a mild outbreak. It is hard to believe that one lab can generate 750 bp of exact match with SARS CoV in 7 patients and three different labs (BC, Winnipeg, and CDC can't give a rationale explanation). The press conference was simply nonsense. Either the SARS CoV data is an artifact or real. Finding OC43 in some patients does NOT answer the VERY simple question - Is the lab data real or artifact. Either answer has serious implications, but all that the official say is irrelevant nonsense. We clearly are NOT ready for even a minor outbreak, because we can't get a straight answer to a VERY simple and fundamental question.
