So, each nation should specialize in the things they do best, concentrate on skills where they have a competitive advantage? China makes cheap consumer goods, Brazil grows coffee, Japan does cars, India does software......and the U.S. does war.

Another charming thing done in medieval armies (and some modern ones), was to have the most loyal troops at the rear, during battles. If those in front faltered, they would be forced forward, by the bayonets behind them. Fear and force will substitute, when patriotism fails, as any Authoritarian will tell you.

You imagine a sorry end, to the experiment Jefferson started. I'd prefer a different road.
