Len, this is an excellent article. There was a reason that earlier administrations including the Bush I administration want to remove Saddam. They followed a policy of containment of Saddam and the CIA was very active to have Saddam killed. They knew very well that getting rid of Saddam militarily would cause a power vacuum and anarchy in the region. During Desert Storm, our troops could have marched into Baghdad because the Republican Guards were decimated. But Bush I and General Colin Powell knew not to get Saddam out.

But now we had Cheney/Rumsfeld/Wolfowitz getting personally greedy. And they took this country into a quagmire. This region is leading to anarchy with Syria and Iran the culprit. This is now a true test for the US military in general. iF Bush is smart, he will quickly retreat and turn over powers to the UN and move out. We don't need US military personnel under UN command.
