Nice analysis TB.. (I finally came across this post of yours)..

I would agree that DOD seems to have bungled the post-war reconstruction and security and are trying to play some serious catch up... But I don't have the same sense that we're "running out of time".. Because I don't believe people have access to any credible alternative for providing either of those conditions.

However, like so many of our conflicts, we seem to be flexible enough to adjust to changing conditions. I hear there are reports the US military is recruiting select Iraqi intelligence folks to assist with uncovering potential terrorist networks... (ratting out their former Baathist employers). Very sensitive and controversial, but a sign that we're thinking out of the box and relying upon indigenous personnel where applicable.
