Acquisitions are a good way to grow obviously. These companies have to look at that as a way to meet the long term growth rates presently assigned to them by the "experts". While there has been some consolidation in the semi-equip area, I have always been surprised there hasn't been more. AMAT could acquire a lot more if they wanted to, but as the article points out, successful acquisitions are hard to come by. Prior disappointments probably puts a damper on this approach to growing a business. Don
