Liberalism is altruistic...

Well, I think it does have altruistic intent (so does the idiot who talking about giving away his second kidney to a stranger). However, altrusitic intent is not sufficient, as human nature doesn't work that way. As a result, I find the entire concept of liberalism to be, simply, naive and foolish.

For the last 10 years I have "altrustically" fed my cat. All he has to do is come bopping up whining and he gets food. He knows it. Every day.

10 years ago, my cat could scrounge for himself. Today, if I stopped feeding him, he would starve to death, whining at the back door.

People are the same way. If someone will give it to them, they'll take it. And in the process, they will be unmotivated to fend for themselves. That is what has developed a welfare state, and what continues to make older people believe they're "entitled" to social security benefits, even though it is breaking the youth.

Liberalism, unfortunately, just doesn't work. Never has, never will. If you want to know what liberalism becomes over time, look at communist countries (in the United States, think of Alec Baldwin, Bill & Hillary, Barbra, and Ed Asner as the ruling communist party).

And another thing...I make a fine living, and I pay my fair share of taxes...and I can tell you clearly that some of it goes to benefit others. And unlike you and other conservatives, I don't begrudge it nor mind that they do.

I've never indicated I "begrudge" or mind paying my taxes. Pay them every year. I simply don't think government ought to be in the business of confiscating money from those who earn it so it can give it to those who don't.

A person who works hard ought to be rewarded, and one who doesn't ought not to be rewarded with free money. This is what has made our nation great and while the liberals continue to try and rip that from us with such asinine devices as Social Security, I am confident that we are winning it back from the liberals at this point.

I'm willing to help those who can't help themselves. But a person who chooses not to help himself today can receive benefits that are unmatched in ANY nation in the world -- from free food and healthcare to free money and shelter. It isn't right.
