Applied Films Announces Resignation of Executive Vice President

LONGMONT, Colo., Aug. 19 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Applied Films Corporation (Nasdaq: AFCO - News) a leading supplier of thin film deposition equipment to the flat panel display (FPD), architectural, automotive and solar, and the consumer products packaging and electronics industries, announced today that effective September 1, 2003, Mr. Helmut Frankenberger, will resign from his position as Executive Vice President, Worldwide Sales and Marketing in order to join another company as its President.
Mr. Frankenberger has supervised the company's worldwide sales and marketing activities. He joined the Company in December 2000, when Applied Films Corporation acquired the Large Area Coatings (LAC) Division of Unaxis Holding Ltd.

The Company is actively recruiting for a new sales and marketing executive. In the interim Mr. Frankenberger's responsibilities will continue under the current product management staff.
