Well, I guess you have heard the expressions "common ground", that lowest level where some basic issues, understandings mutually exist, and "common knowledge" of words, concepts that can be agreed on before one goes further.
But I agree with you that most of the CSPAN stuff is really crap, all that stuff from the US house and senate, the administration, all those committees, all those politicians, even judges abd courts, presidential history, covering all those elections, university debates and especially think-tanks, both now and then.
Additionally on top of all of that, all those daily journalists and weekly books.
The key thing is obviously to pick and chose, something CSPAN has made available through their archives.
