There is something about Dean that the media doesn't seem to get, I hope you realize it though. It is not Dean's politics that the "left wing of the party" or whatever the current categorization of Dean supporters is, that is the magnet to Dean. It really doesn't matter if Dean is a tax and spend liberal (he isn't) or if he supports gay marriage or any of these divisive issues. Dean is popular because he overtly questioned and rejected the Bush agenda and that is where his support comes from. He continues to do it to. If another democrat did that, Kerry or Clark or anybody, they would be just as popular as Dean imho. Dean is relentless in his hammering about the Bush tax cuts for one thing. Its not just war, Dean is after Bush and does a really good job with his pitch. Good for Dean.
