Henry,

Would the sequencing techniques being used be able to distinguish between a recombinant virus and a simultaneous infection with two different coronaviruses?

How much overlap is there in sequence between SARS CoV and traditional human coronaviruses like OC43? I assume the 750 BP sequenced earlier has no homology to traditional human coronaviruses?

One thing does seem clear. This upcoming flu and cold season is going to be very confused and scary if (as now seems likely) they can't rapidly develop a quick and specific test for SARS CoV.
