Other adjustments to the raw data include a value that is imputed as "rents paid" by people actually own their residences outright. There are other smoke-and-mirrors techniques that make the government figures on GDP completely unreliable.

The situation is so bad that for years Allan Greenspan has relied on data from a private econometric firm in Pennsylvania instead of Bureau of Labor Statistics, OMB, or or other government data.
